Moving on!

Well Phil went through another interview today at 4:30 and BCAA offered him a job, paper offer in the works. This has been on the go since January when he applied for 1 job, interviewed for 2 hours and they then proposed that he be considered for an upcoming job. So after a 2.5 hour online test they loved him and want him. We are so - all over this. We were planning on putting the house up for sale so will proceed. Have only told the girls, Normans, and Cathy Stewart as we were so excited but will hold off on any further chats until after we get the formal offer.

Reconnecting with 'ol friends, is understated!!

What a wonderful feeling - reconnecting with a friend that I haven't seen in years was awesome. I had felt the urge to call Randy and Jennifer Rose and finally did it today. Caught Randy at home and we have a wonderful chat. He's retired and hopefully successfully recovering from prostate cancer, has a few treatments coming up but he was as warm and friendly as if the years had never passed. They just became grandparents to Bjorn, Michelle's baby, a week ago so are of course thrilled. They live nearby which is an even better bonus. Told him we would let them know if we moved down so that we wouldn't have to travel so far to have a visit. It made my heart happy to talk with him and catch up on all his families news. If things work out maybe we could even take a trailer camping trip somewhere in the near future. He got sick one month after retiring and has since then done a lot of research and had some really good advice which I of course passed on to Phil. Oddly enough Phil did go to the gym to check out what and which one to attend so had his stuff in the car for today. Phil actually got home before 5 yesterday which is a first in many months. We'd both like to see and start a new trend, more fun stuff and less stress and worry about his job. Well back to tidying up house, finish cleaning out laundry/foyer and then kitchen then back outside for late afternoon sun time while cleaning up horses paddock. +12 at noon now.

Duped, darn computers.

I thought I had signed in to the Livestrong daily food/exercise thing but it was under Phil's id and weight - need I say more. I thought I'd done so good and I did and luckily I didn't eat all the calories it thought I could last night. Phew, glad I caught it on day 2. So today I've only had yogurt, granola, an egg, 1 cinnamon bun (worth more than friggin pop and chips WTheck) and I'm only allowed another 300 calories and it's only 1:30. Damn good think I went and got cauliflower, broccoli and lettuse or else I might be dining with the horses and chickens!! Plus I've sat all am, must say goodbye to computer and say hello to housework. see ya. Ok at least I had a wonderful friend to visit with over coffee and cinnamon bun.

I started tracking my food consumption and activities on Livestrong and at 6:30 pm I have eaten 976 calories and burned 1558 calories. I'd say that's a pretty damn good start now to stay with that. I also got 3 jobs done on my ugly "to do" list. Plan your work and work your plan, am I finally getting back on track. I certainly hope so.

Spring is here!! I know 'cause I rode yesterday.

Ok, here goes. I have 2 weeks of time away from work due to "not in school" days and "spring break" and I stated I would get the house ready for putting up for sale. First off, I am now saying that was very optimistic of me. I thought I just needed to do some painting, yeah well that also includes scrubbing walls, moving things around, patching holes that renters made, and I could go on. I have had to sit around on my duff since the end of November so I am not in my best shape plus this project feels very overwhelming. So I thought for a break lets go through some boxes in the storage room and get that a bit underway. Now I have 3 partially filled containers for the girls to take and 1 for us, 1 box of garbage and a mess spilling out of storage room into our nicely freshly brand new carpeted basement. Ok not so eye pleasing especially to Phil, (I gave him the update on what I'd done that day, inside as we'd been outside until 7 pm) he said that was my ADD time oh yes did I forget to say that on giving him the tour of what was underway I stated that he could not make any comments. Yeah he broke that in the first 15 feet. When I saw that it was +16 outside I just had to go out. I loaded a trailer full of horse poo, dug the draining trench another 20 feet longer, in the horses paddock which I might add the ice is over 6, more like 8 inches deep. Groomed both horses, rode both horses up and down the lane several times, groomed Calvin. This all from 2:30 until Phil came home at 5 ish. Oh yes then Phil on coming up the yard almost got stuck in the 6 inches of ice that has turned into slush and he gets out saying we should try plowing it. I of course put my hand up for that so that Phil can fix the loaded trailer that has got its wheel stuck in a tree and I can't now lower it to rehook to the trailer 'cause it's too full. The plowing worked great. This is the first time we have, in the 6.5 years we've lived here had this kind of melt. Usually it is solid solid ice and we are axing it, salting it for a month before it gets this soft, so this is wonderful. I must also add that I made an a pretty good supper last night, wheat germ chicken, sweet potato fries and salad. Not too bad for all the stuff I got done yesterday.
So far today I have hung laundry on the line, changed our bed, made chicken, macaroni, tomato soup, salad for tonight, cleaned fridge again and a couple of cupboards. Oh yes swept off the crud that was on our bedroom deck, only small patches of ice but that helped clean it. Diva and Calvin came to help. If I wasn't fighting this damn cold I would've put the lawn chairs up there and had coffee there. I am really having a hard time getting down to the basement and painting - keep finding other smaller and easier jobs upstairs, like wiping down the leather furniture with my new leather wipes. Yes it all needs doing just putting off the big job. I decided, in bed last night, in one of the many times I woke up, that I will feel much better if I mop the laundry room and kitchen downstairs first. I know I'm also befuddled on my plan because of so much snow melting and showing all the mess we have to clean up. For instance, the gravel in front of garage and front door is covered with hair, ugh and the hay is a mess in front of the barn. Ok I'll get it done. Things could be worse, I am healthy, can walk, talk, and life is good.

Oh such sweet rewards!

So far this is our sweetest bush this year and again it's nature's own. They are just about the size of big blueberries and you can get about 10 to 12 in one clump.

Cherry pie anyone

I'm just about to finish off the last of the 20 lbs of wonderful cherries I got last weekend. Will make 2 pies I believe. I made a blueberry pie, the first one of those I've every made, and was it goooood! If I don't say so myself. Shared with Eileen and Phil.
I worked 2 full days on Mon and Tues. but felt the need to only work 1/2 day today so am inside trying to get a few household things done. Haven't seen our deer lately but am confident they are nearby. Monday night just before bed Phil and I were both reading in the living room and we could here it calling Momma, just so sweet.
Sudha and Harj have the house to themselves as girls are visiting family in Toronto. They leave for 2 weeks in Italy on Sunday. This is to celebrate 20 years of marriage. We went and had chai and sweets with them, saw the reno's on their kitchen, new counter and back splash. Very nice!! I certainly hope Sudha buys her hat in Italy and not WL. ;.)
Last 2 days we had a chance of rain and TS, but still nothiing. We could sure use a day or more of rain. Bring it on.
